Charlotte Lifestyle Family Photographer | A Stay at Home Story…

These are unprecedented times. It is true that this time won’t last forever. Things will go back to normal and social distancing and staying home will end. But, while we are here in this moment, so many families are finding more time. Suddenly, we have more of the one thing that I know I am always wishing that we had more of as a family, time. We have time for board games and home cooked meals around the dinner table. We wake up slow and spend the days together. It’s ironic, because even though the reasons that we must stay home are actually awful, the time that we have gained together is wonderful. We will go back to running to work, school and all sorts of activities will resume. That will be such a good thing. But, while we are here, let’s relish in the time that has been gifted to us. Let’s use this time to really connect with our families in ways that our busy pace of life just didn’t allow us. Things will go back to normal, yes, but maybe we will also take something with us from this time as they do. Maybe we will be more deliberate about the time that we have together when we are home. When we look back on this time, I hope that we find that although there was so much sadness, uncertainty and anxiety; there was also so much goodness.

I was so blessed and grateful to be able to capture this time at home for this sweet family, who lives a few houses down from my own family. I know for me, it has been so comforting to look outside and see other families together. It helps to give a sense of community and togetherness even when we are apart. I am grateful for home, neighbors and, of course, time.
