I’ve spent years documenting my own children and capturing their unique personalities. I love the photos that I have created of them and they bring me right back to when they were so little. But, if I could go back and do it all again, there are two things I’d do differently… I’d take more video and I would hire someone to capture the love and connection that we share. It’s just impossible when you are the one always taking the photos. While I LOVE the photographs that I have created of them and they show how I see them, our connection is so much a part of our story that’s missing when I’m not in the photos with them.

Now they are grown. One is already out of the house and another is about to go off to college.  It’s so much harder to make time to capture us all together. So take it from me… you will blink and your babies will be adults! I honestly don’t know how the time went by so fast.

I’ll still make every effort to capture us all together when they come home for holidays and weekends, but I wish I would have booked sessions more often when they were little.

You have to make time for the things that matter most in your life… each other.

“If you want to bring happiness to the whole world, go home and love your family.”

~ Mother Teresa

I could photograph a million different things, and I have, but I always come back to families. I know that there is nothing on this beautiful Earth that even gets as close to the kind of love that the Creator has for us than the love that exists within families. To be a wife and mother has been my greatest honor and privilege. Such an incredible experience deserves to be captured. Moms… get in those photos with your children. Don’t leave an empty space in the photo album where you should be.

I love photographing families at home or a place that is special to them… especially a place where they spend a lot of time together.
